Many of you have just won your e-board elections and are ready to assume the leadership of your fraternity next semester. I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you will not succeed if you merely do what is expected of you.
You know as well as I do that if you only do what is expected, the brothers in your fraternity will be left disappointed. That is because they yearn for a great leader, and great fraternity leaders exceed expectations.
Really, this is true in all facets of life.
In the corporate world, you don’t get promoted for just doing your job. That is why they pay you. You get promoted for going above and beyond your expected duties.
When you purchase a product, you don’t do so because you think it has the same value as the purchase price. You buy it because you think it has more value than it’s cost.
Remember this when you when you start making plans for the next semester. Your job as a leader in your fraternity is to be sure you are providing your brothers tremendous value for their time and financial commitments.
If you strive to exceed the expectations of your brotherhood, your fraternity will be very successful.
