This fundraising idea has the potential to be huge, but it will also annoy the mess out of thousands of people. I’ll let you decide if it is worth it.
Unless you were under a rock this summer – you know how popular Vuvuzelas were this summer at the World Cup. For those of you under rocks, those are the annoying stadium horns that blew constantly at every World Cup soccer game.
If your fraternity wants to have a hung fundraiser, buy a thousand of these things and sell them at your home football games. Truth be told, you will probably only have the opportunity once, because everyone at that game will be so annoyed that they will ban them from the stadium for the rest of the season.
If you can live with yourself, buy a thousand in your school color and go to work. After a quick google search I found 1000 of them for $0.48/each. Buy them for $0.48 – sell them for $5 – make a quick 4 large plus.
You should be able to sell 1000 easy to drunk college kids. Things that are loud and obnoxious are very popular with that crowd. There is no doubt they would go like hot cakes.
However, there is one caveat to this idea. If you do this at an NC State game, I will personally hunt you down and cram one of those things up your butt. However, if you decide to do it at a UNC game, I’ll help you buy them
2013 Update — This opportunity is gone as it was a quick fad with the World Cup. It shows how important timing is. Capitalize on a good idea when the opportunity presents itself, because the opportunity probably won’t last long.
