I served in the Air Force for five years. I deployed twice to the Middle East. My first deployment was to Iraq for five months. During those five months we were attacked by enemy mortars nearly every day. My second deployment was to Kuwait for six months, and it wasn’t nearly as hairy as the first.
Serving in the military was one of the best decisions of my life – both from the aspect of personal growth and giving back to my country. I wouldn’t trade the experiences I had for the world.
Take a moment today and thank a veteran for their service. Also, take time to remember those like Pat Tillman for their sacrifice.
