Good fraternity leaders are able to solve problems. They see that the fraternity is lacking in their social programs or in recruitment or in some other area, and they are able to lead a turnaround in these areas.

1) Keep your website current. Potential recruits and your alumni go there. If there are old pictures and rush calendars from 2004 up, then you can be assured that person is never going to come back.

You probably have a rival fraternity on campus. For some reason or another, your fraternity just doesn’t get along with these guys. And because there isn’t a fraternity out there without flaws, they will slip up eventually.

What the heck is a Lhasapoo? It is the type of dog I have. Think of a cotton ball about the size of a football with legs. Is it a sissy dog? Absolutely, but that is what happens when you get married. You laugh – but just wait…

Fraternities do more good for a college community than most other student organizations combined. Fraternities are dedicated to improving their communities through service. Fraternities excel in academics and provide the best leadership training on campus. So why are they vilified by outsiders?

You guys all know this guy. He is the guy who refuses to chip in a few bucks for the pizza, and then waits around like a vulture hoping that he will be allowed to have the leftovers.

School is finally back in session, and every fraternity has as fresh start. If I could impart one bit of advice to fraternity leaders at the start of this year – it would be to BE BOLD!

I am proud to say that Rafer Johnson is a fraternity brother of mine. We went to school 40 years apart and on different sides of the country, but we are both brothers in Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity.

A motivated leader is always thinking about the fraternity, and always thinking about how he can improve the chapter. He will participate in hundreds of impromptu brainstorming sessions. What is the point though if most lessons are lost?

People have two options in life – they can be happy or they can be miserable. There is no in-between. The people in the grey area between the two are really in the miserable category.
